Hello everyone, I am Aylin from the PPC department!
I’m here to tell you how did my Performance Marketing journey start. But first, I want to give you some information about myself to make the process clear. I am studying Business Administration and this year is my senior year. As you can guess, because of my study department I was familiar with marketing. But at school, we only learned about traditional marketing elements, but somehow, with the effect of the pandemic, I started to get curious about digital marketing. After days that I’ve searched about what digital marketing is and what its subsections are, I decided to take a short Google Ads course online. After that course, I knew I wanted to be a part of this sector then I started to follow agencies or people working in the digital marketing field on LinkedIn and that’s how I and BoostRoas came across.
The Orientation at BoostRoas
Orientation at the BoostROAS was super easy because they made short lessons for understanding everything about BoostROAS at the Heights education platform. When you start, you have access to that platform which helps you to learn everything about BoostROAS starting from the agency’s mission to every asset and tool they have. And having 1-1 meetings to get to know each other was not easy for me at first but then I realized it is essential for an agency that works fully remote. And after the orientation process, my PPC journey officially started…
What Happened During Learning Process
At first, I started by taking my certificates from Google’s official training websites. At that point, it was hard to understand and keep in mind everything that I had learned, but after a while, I started to become a part of the operational process so that was a great opportunity to implement my learnings into real job operations and that’s how everything started to make sense for me. And I think this is the best part of the DMT-SP process. I feel lucky to be able to implement theoretical learning into operations because that was what I suffered the most before I participated in the DMT-SP program. I took courses, but I forgot what I had learned due to not being able to set real campaigns even if I dug into my own Google Ads account I couldn’t go any further where I was before. Thanks to the DMT-SP program, I had a chance to see how things happen in real life and had lots of experience starting from setting campaigns to being a part of brand meetings.
Challenging Parts
Like every learning process, the DMT-SP program has its challenges. At first, you should be ready to get lots of feedback, and of course, it can’t be good all the time. You need to be prepared to fail because believe me, you’ll fail a lot. But actually, that is a good sign for you because whenever you fail, you realize something new that you didn’t understand during the learning or operation process. Another challenging part is asking questions. You need to ask a lot of questions, and you might think what is challenging with that? Believe me, it feels like a real challenge when you keep writing to people on your team all along the work hours. But don’t be shy and if you have anyone to ask, then ask. It will protect you from making mistakes.
Tips Might Help You During Your Performance Marketing Learning Process
While I was learning, I improved some learning techniques for myself. I am just suggesting these tips everyone has their unique way of learning, but these tips might be helpful.
- Record Videos: Record videos while someone’s showing you how to do the operation or record when you learn something and try to implement it in your way. Because you’ll learn so many things and you are going to need to memorize it all. And I think it’s a great way to realize your mistakes.
- Take Notes: I know it’s a cliche suggestion, but this is one of the key elements of learning and remembering. Take lots of notes and don’t forget to take a look back at those notes from time to time because this is one of the mistakes that I’ve made. And believe me, it is harder to remember when it’s been a while since you took the notes.
- Having A Checklist Can Be A Lifesaver: I made checklists about what I forgot the most while I set up the campaign. Then I keep it around my computer while I set up new campaigns and check every point I added to the list. This helps me to make fewer failures while I set campaigns.
- Keep Asking Yourself the Question “Why?”: I think this is another lifesaver element during the performance marketing learning process because you need to understand the reasons behind the consequences. It is not going to be fast or easy, but you’ll see how you improve yourself during the process if you keep asking why.
I wanted to tell you about how my performance marketing journey started, explain the process with easy and hard sides and try to give you some tips that help me learn. I hope you can find something that helps you and make your mind clearer. That was a great experience for me and help me to improve my knowledge and learn a lot of new things. My journey has just begun, and I am excited to be a part of this dynamic sector. And also I am so happy to be part of the BoostROAS PPC Team. I know I have so much to improve and learn, but continuous learning and improvement are essential to be successful in this sector. There is a lot to learn and experience!
Hope to meet you all again here to share my knowledge soon!
